Poem

I was that longing that you carry in your soul.
I was that eternal love, there in your heart.
I was the trinity that constitutes your essence.
And all those things I have because of you.
I was in the fine clay of your infancy.
I was in the innocent dreams of your childhood.

And when you were born, you knew
 That a child like me
Would come to enrich your life,
From the beginning of time.

Your Mother was the essence,
 The essence of men and
 The great God essence,
Your immortal spirit blessing the table
Of that sacred place where God ate.

~ By brother initiate Jose Mendez,
Santiago, Chile (Originally in Spanish)
