By sister initiate
Gao from Shanxi, Mainland China
When sister Cui was five years old,
she suffered an accidental fall and sustained severe bone fractures. Medical examinations at several hospitals concluded that she had a bone disease called osteoporosis.
Sister
Cui could neither stand nor walk. She and her parents were heart-broken.
Life and the many dreams she entertained lost their luster as she spent
the next five years in a wheelchair. When she saw other children happily
going to school, she was overcome by tears of envy. She lost faith and
the will to live.
It was during this time of depression and dejection that an old sister knocked on sister Cui's door and offered her a copy of Master's sample booklet. God's great love gave her encouragement and soothed her inner heart. On that very day, sister Cui became a vegetarian. Master's teachings and endless blessings nourished her soul like a spring shower reviving the arid desert after a long drought.
A few weeks
later, a miracle took place. The little girl began to walk, supporting
herself by pressing her hands against a wall. In December 1995, she received
the initiation she had long dreamed about. She followed Master's instructions,
practicing with deep sincerity and humility. After some time, she said
good-bye to her wheelchair and even learned to ride a bike.
A few months ago, some of our fellow initiates visited sister Cui and found that she was no longer the girl they had carried on their backs to the initiation. Calmly, she told them with a smile, "If I had not met Mommy Ching Hai, I am not sure if I could have found the confidence to live on."
We learned that she was studying English and Japanese by herself at home, and was pretty good at writing. She wants to become great in spirit and follow Master's footsteps by devoting herself to public service.
