Central Au Lac Flood Relief
Following
Master's shining example, upon learning of the devastating flood in Central
Au Lac in November of 1999, brothers and sisters from around the world
opened their hearts and generously contributed US$104,576.88 to support
relief work for the flood victims. Soon after, a group of fellow practitioners
volunteered to go to Au Lac to distribute the contributions. Upon their
return, they were notified that another devastating flood had ravaged
Quang Ngai and Duc Pho in Central Au Lac. The floods continued through
December and their devastating effects lasted for months. Immediately,
brothers and sisters from the United States, Canada and Australia again
compassionately made further contributions to the flood victims. Another
US$25,964.00 was collected, and in January fellow initiates returned to
Au Lac to share these funds, so that the victims could begin the Lunar
New Year full of Master's love. Among the areas visited were Quang Ngai,
Duc Pho, Pho Thuan, Pho An, Pho Ninh, Pho Vinh, Pho Cuong, Quang Tri,
Quang Nam, Son Ha, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Phan Rang, Qui Nhon, Tuy Hoa,
and Duc Pho Hospital. The initiates reached out to hundreds of families
whose lives had been destroyed by the raging floods. The victims who received
the generous contributions were very grateful and expressed their sincere
thanks.
