The Supreme Master Panorama

As always, the Quan Yin family participated enthusiastically in the charitable activity, and fellow initiates from Chiayi eagerly served the public with great joy and sincerity. The Book Counter attracted crowds of children as soon as the activity began early in the morning. Children avidly read the book, "Master Tells Stories" and were reluctant to leave. Free servings of vegetarian delicacies also drew large crowds and left them highly impressed with our vegetarian cuisine. Later in the day, the superintendent of the Family Support Center presented a letter of gratitude to the working staff of Chiayi Center that commended their hard work.¡¹

One might say that it was a miracle that the publications of Supreme Master Ching Hai were approved by the exhibition sponsors for participation in the book fair. The people of Malaysia are pious Moslems and normally impose many restrictions on things that are not part of the Moslem tradition. This recent breakthrough in more freedom of expression of diverse ideological concepts spells good news for Malaysia.

During the book fair, the Langkawi government sponsored children's contests in English oratory, painting, and sketching. Visitors were entertained by singers who contributed to the success of the event. Free copies of Master's sample booklets, News magazines, and bookmarks were distributed to the endless stream of visitors to the Supreme Master Ching Hai booth. Visitors not only had fun but also were blessed with a spiritual message.¡¹

At this activity, people of all ages, including children, teenagers and adults, all came to share in the teachings of Supreme Master Ching Hai. Many of them registered for the Convenient Method of meditation and some applied for initiation into the Quan Yin Method. Fellow initiates are very grateful to Master for giving them the opportunity to understand more about Her work. She never works or enjoys anything for Herself. Every action She performs and every thought that She has are for those who long for God.¡¹

Several days before the seminar, a greatly troubled gentleman prayed sincerely to God for a solution to his problems. As he flipped through the newspaper, he saw Master's photo and the announcement about the seminar. He immediately knew that this was God's answer to him. After watching the videotapes at the venue, he was convinced that he had found the solution. He started a vegetarian diet after returning home. Just several days later, he was amazed by the changes in his pet rabbit, which used to hide from him whenever he looked at it. But after he became a vegetarian, it began to come close to him on its own initiative. His dog even started playing with the rabbit. He felt that the changes in these animals were very amusing. In his practice of the Convenient Method, he has enjoyed many good experiences and his life has changed. Feeling that God's power is taking care of and guiding him, he is very anxious to get initiation soon.

One elderly gentleman, profoundly interested in spirituality, had previously practiced with a number of spiritual groups. After he studied Master's teachings, he just could not stop praising Her lectures that he read in the Supreme Master Ching Hai publications. However, he was caught in an internal struggle between his decades-old meat-eating habit that he could not quit in just a few days and his desire to practice the Quan Yin Method. It happened to be mealtime one day when he visited us, so we offered him an easily prepared vegetarian sandwich. After eating it, he realized that eating vegetarian is very simple, cheap, and delicious; hence, he became a vegetarian.

He noted that after taking up the vegetarian diet, he could walk with a lighter gait and climb stairs with less effort. In the sample booklet, he read the examples that Master cited from the Bible about prohibiting the taking of life. With deep feelings he sighed and said that it is a pity he had never learned about this earlier, although he had often gone to church. Therefore, he cherishes Master's teachings even more, and is sincerely waiting for initiation.

A psychologist working for a radio station, born with the ability to predict the future, could also read people's past lives. She often discussed the concepts of hygiene and the vegetarian diet in both the news and broadcasting media, and believed that the food we eat is closely related to our inner tranquility. She felt herself drawn by an overwhelming feeling when she heard about the seminar, so she went to the venue.

After watching Master's videotaped lectures, she felt enfolded by Master's pure and strong vibrations for several days. She saw Master in a dream that night, and discovered their past-life relationship when Master was a Korean.

One evening when she returned home, she smelled a fragrant aroma, so she started to read the Supreme Master News magazines despite her fatigue. That night she dreamed of Master telling her on the phone, "I have come to help the humble people." She interpreted this to mean that only when we are humble can we attune ourselves to Master's vibrations and become one with Her.

These experiences strengthened her faith in Master's power, and she began to introduce Master's teachings to people who were interested.

To teach the beginners more about vegetarian cooking, we held a vegetarian feast to which all the Convenient Method practitioners and their families and friends were invited. Everything went smoothly. The food was prepared with the cooperation of future initiates who had just registered for initiation. Everyone who attended the Convenient Method meditation session that day had good experiences. After the meal, a professional harmonica musician played a few beautiful tunes and won thunderous applause from everyone present.

A few days before our departure, there was widespread rainfall in the area. People were surprised because it was not the rainy season, but we knew it was Master's love awakening the souls thirsty for liberation. Let us wholeheartedly wish that these spiritual seeds will soon sprout and yield beautiful fruit.¡¹

The initiates then proceeded to the Peruvian capital of Lima. In Lima, arrangements for a seminar had been taken care of by fellow initiates and would-be initiates who were already practicing the Convenient Method. The seminar was to be held at the Continental Bank of Peru in its completely furnished auditorium. Although this venue had never been leased to any organization before, the bank offered it to the initiates free of charge.

Fellow initiates went on the air on two radio stations and a large numbers of leaflets were distributed in this large city. A videotape of Master singing was played before the seminar began and the early arrivals watched and listened to Her heart-moving songs attentively. The seminar commenced with initiates sharing their experiences of learning about Supreme Master Ching Hai. When they spoke of how Quan Yin practitioners are one with Supreme Master Ching Hai at every moment of the day, they were so overwhelmed by emotions that they broke down in tears. The vast majority of people who attended the seminar applied for initiation into the Quan Yin Method or the Convenient Method of meditation.

The seminar in Puno was held at a newly renovated theater that was very big and comfortable. Like on the previous occasions, it was filled to capacity. Everything went smoothly. Many attendees were vegetarians and wanted to learn about Master's teachings. They realized that Supreme Master Ching Hai was the Master that they had been waiting for, and were all very anxious to receive initiation. One person spontaneously offered a place where they could set up a meditation center. How happy the fellow initiates were to see gratitude light up the faces of all the people who attended the seminars! Certainly that was a very valuable lesson that Master bestowed on them.

When the Puno seminar drew to a close, fellow initiates planned a small retreat near Lake Titicaca, at a quiet village as yet unexploited by tourists. During their trip to the village of Tacasaya, the initiates shared candy with the children and other adults who were traveling with them on the boat.

The fellow practitioners introduced themselves to the local authorities and requested permission to pitch their tents. Many children followed them happily everywhere they went.

One brother initiate met two teachers at the local village school who told him that they were unable to attend the seminar in Puno because there wasn't a ferry to carry them across the lake that day. So the initiates offered to present Master's teachings especially for the teachers and students of the local school. Some requested to learn the Convenient Method, and continue to be in contact with the Arequipa and Lima initiates.

Most Tacasaya residents are not well-off and the school children evidently needed skin care cream because of their longtime exposure to both the sun's heat on the plateau and to cold fronts. They were not clothed warmly enough and went about barefooted. Touched by this scene, the initiates conveyed to them Master's love by contributing US$500 to the elementary school.

The last seminar was in the city of Tacna, which lies on the border very close to Chile. As always, it attracted many interested people. However, the Chilean initiates found that their visas were about to expire and had to travel quickly back to Arica to have them renewed so that they could participate in the Tacna seminar. Both Peruvian and Chilean customs officials recognized Supreme Master Ching Hai's disciples from whom they had received many sample booklets when the initiates first entered Peru from Chile. The government officials greeted the initiates with a smile and extended their visa duration to enable them to hold the seminar in Tacna.

The seminar featured an introduction about the life of Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Quan Yin Method, as well as a videotaped discourse presented by Her in Costa Rica. The attendants listened to the teachings with utmost concentration and had almost no questions. One person expressed his gratitude for this valuable occasion because he had missed the previous two seminars in Lima. He also thanked Master for the Supreme Master News magazines that he receives regularly. After the seminar many people requested to learn the Convenient Method of meditation and some, who were already vegetarians for a long time, asked for initiation. They are looking forward to sharing their joy of spiritual practice with fellow initiates in Peru and the rest of the world.

All the initiates are hoping to share Master's teachings with everyone as quickly as possible. As a new initiate from Arequipa said, "I had waited such a long time that half my hair is white now. Please don't make other people wait for so long!"

A sudden decision to take a boat to the Tacasaya Village brought the initiates into contact with people who were interested in Master and Her teachings.¡¹
