The Relocation Incident At Whitehead Camp Formosa Asks The Hong Kong Governor To Be Humane

[By Reporter Lai Sau Ru Of Chuan San press In Formosa] This Friday, the Formosa political and religious people were lobbying in the Legislative House, in support of the refugees in Hong Kong Whitehead Camp. More than thirty appointed and elected legislators wrote to Hong Kong Governor Patten, wishing the Hong Kong Government to launch negotiations with the Au Lac Government on the refugee issue. They also wished that Mr. Lian Jian, Chief of the Executive House of Formosa, on account of humanity and human rights, would urge the Hong Kong Government, through official channels, to refrain from handling the relocation of refugees in inhumane ways.
In the letter faxed to Governor Patten, the Legislators urged the Hong Kong Government to stop the suppressing actions, and take proper rehabilitation measures to the Whitehead incident. This "protest of deep grief" was sent to the Government House at about 4:00p.m. The content emphasized that they have no comment on the Hong Kong Government's forced repatriation policy for the Au Lac refugees who are considered economic migrants. However, they were gravely concerned about the violent suppression of the Whitehead refugees on April 7.

Suggesting Negotiation Between Hong Kong And Au Lac

The letter remarked: Governor Patten, for the democratic development and the future prosperity of Hong Kong, you are braving the provocation of the Chinese Communist regime, and raised the "democratic political reform proposal". Is it also part of the "democratic political reform proposal" to suppress the freedom of thirsty Au Lac refugees with brutal and bloody actions? The letter also urged the Hong Kong Government to start negotiation with the Au Lac Government, reaching a proper solution respecting the dignity of the refugees, and under the precondition that the refugees would be provided with sufficient information, free from the doubts and fears for retaliation.
